After I discovered the two main reasons of memory problems and where to investigate, I finally worked on several factors. The Orbassano yard, and the stations of Porta Nuova and Lingotto have a lot of tracks, that in simulation are maybe useless, in the sense that they are hardly necessary even for a complex scenario. […] ... continue reading »

SFM Torino – First Movie
As anticipated in the post “And then?” the first part of the extension of the Torino-Bardonecchia route is almost completed. A long testing movie of the new extension can be found here in the Video section. ... continue reading »
New Static Rolling Material Pack
New Static Rolling Material Pack available for download. You can find it here.
The pack incudes a number of low poly models to be placed in large yars or stations to make the experience more realistic, without heavily affecting system resources and performance. ... continue reading »
New Tracks Loft Pack
New Tracks Loft Pack is available for download. You can find it here.
The pack contains all the tracks included in my Track pack, but in loft version and therefore not usable by trains.
The purpose is to place these tracks in large station where you do not have to use all the laid track. This limits relatively flexibility in creating scenarios, but greatly reduces resource demand. ... continue reading »
It’s time for assets
Although the route is still to be completed, it is time to begin making available the assets specifically created for this wide project. Starting today, I will begin to upload assets that are ready and stable for publication. Only the last active release will be retained in the download section, while the previous ones will […] ... continue reading »
And then?
TSW or Train Simulator? I often asked myself this question. Better to continue to work on the current or stop it and start with TSW? I know myself, and for me the graphic aspect has the predominance over the driving experience. ... continue reading »
RW and memory usage II
To deeply explore the problem of too high memory usage, I used a short scenario between Collegno and Torino Porta Nuova, so that I quickly tested variations. The tests had the target to compare: A) Initial situation B) Track and terrain only C) Like B + lofts and roads D) Like B + Scenery This […] ... continue reading »
About tracks.bin
One of the most important and most critical files while developing a route is just track.bin and its files under the Track Tiles folder.
Unfortunately, crashes that occur occasionally in RW during editing could lead to invalidating the track. Restoring previous versions if you have a backup is not a problem as long as you restore the equivalent files under the Track Tiles folder. If this is not the case, the alignment between the track.bin and the tracks under Track Tiles is certain. ... continue reading »
RW and memory usage
Solved the frequent crash problem caused by the signal script, next step is to understand and reduce the memory usage. First point to check is how much memory RAM is used during a standard scenario to make a zero point and see which areas are or may be critical. All the tests are run from […] ... continue reading »
New signal scripts
The scripts of the new signals are over and after a test phase, I can confirm that they are doing their job and the aspects are correctly represented. In some cases new features have also been added that in the previous signals were not fully functional. To prevent touching existing assets and routes, which have […] ... continue reading »
